Let me introduce myself! My name is Nicki Hermans, and I'm a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, with
a B.A. in Business Administration. My focus was in computers, and I'm proud to say that I have remained in the field that I
graduated in!
Upon graduation, I began working for a small company in my hometown, Middleton, WI, where I built new computers to customer
specifications. The first computer I ever built had a 40MB harddrive and MAYBE 8MB of memory...and to think we were telling
people that they would probably never need more than that! After a year or so of doing that, I migrated to our Training
Department where I delivered training on Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products for classes up to 24 people in size. I
LOVED it! It was the best feeling seeing students faces when they would learn how to do something on the computer that would
make their lives easier!
Three years later, I found myself working for one of Madison's top IT
Consulting Companies where I was given opportunities to learn HTML, develop and
deliver my own course material, and develop and train clients on their
proprietary software. I was also responsible for the education paths of
our Engineers as they pertained to our vendors such as Microsoft, Novell, Cisco,
and Hewlett Packard to name a few.
After an acquisition, some bad business practices, and a spin-off, I began
working for a start-up consulting company where I had the opportunity to learn
about Human Resources and a little bookkeeping. Debits, Credits, a Chart
of Accounts - OH MY! I developed and documented our Policies and
Procedures which fed into our Employee Handbook. I was responsible for new
hire paperwork and employee orientation. And finally, I became pretty
efficient in Quickbooks - and not necessarily by any choice of mine!
Those that know me, understand that my employment history was crazy for about
7 years. But, the fact of the matter is, those 7 years have enabled me to
start this business that I have - and for that - I'm extremely grateful! I
have learned so much, met many talented and wonderful people along the
way, and have become, in part, the person I am today because of it all!
On a more personal level, I've been married for over 10 years to a talented
musician (on the side) and we are blessed with two beautiful and "spirited" (as
they say) children. We love spending time at our cabin and with our
extended families. I love taking pictures which shows itself amongst the
many scrapbooks that I have created over the past 15 years. My husband and
I have an infatuation with lighthouses and always find ourselves on the coasts
(during hurricane season) whenever our anniversary rolls around.
They are fascinating structures with so much history, many stories, and endless
beauty surrounding them. We love to travel and may head overseas someday,
but there is so much yet to be seen right here!
I am so looking forward to helping out small business owners or improving the
daily Microsoft productivity activities of employees in a larger organization.
